How do I make a roof for my home made smoker…?

Ok, my smoker is made of cinder blocks and it consist of a fire box and the smoke chamber. I want the entire thing to be made of masonry; however, I have no idea to go about making the roof for either the smoker or fire box. I need something that will withstand high temperatures in for the roof of the fire box. If I need to then I can make the roof of that out of something else like metal with some kind of insulation or something, and that could be on a hinge. That way the roof would be the access to the fire pit and the roof… For the smoke chamber any tips would be cool. I would like that part to defiantly be made of masonry if possible. Any tips would be awesome!

Cinder blocks won’t withstand the heat. You need to line the firebox with fire brick. These are expensive but they won’t deteriorate in the heat. The smoke chamber will usually be relatively cool, so it doesn’t really matter what material you use there. You can buy some heavy guage metal sheet to use for the roof. It will have no problems with the heat. Just look at the thin metal that charcoal grills are made out of.
