Ex Smoker Lungs

Ex Smokers please answer?

Hi guys :D I am 34 years old and smoked for 17 years and was primarily a pack a day smoker for the majority of it maybe a little bit less. Anyways, I quit cold turkey back on Aug 22 so its been 57 days smoke free! Just like any ex smoker I am anxious to feel the benefits of being a non smoker. Being that I am basically at the 2 month mark my lungs still feel like a smokers. I know that smoking destroys their elasticity and and it still feels the same when I take deep breaths. Also, my sleeping has not been the same since I quit. I am a very light sleeper now and I don’t require as much of it. Can anyone give me an idea when your lungs start to come around and feel better? Also touch on smoking related insomnia and changes in your sleeping?

hi congrats keep it up its worth it, i quit in 1994. the sleep problem is psychological from quiting, it will get better, take a melatonin at night and ull sleep fine. the body is an amazing thing it will repair itself, give it time ,u smoked for along time and it takes time to get those impurities out of ur body, drink alot of water and start exercising. start to eat a at least one piece of fruit a day it will help with the detox.
you are already over the worst part but not out of the woods yet, it gets easier to fight craving as time goes on,at the worst cravings only last for 2 minutes max, try a rubber band around ur wrist and snap it against ur skin till the craving go away.
what i use to do when i had a craving was to sneak up on my girlfriend and smack her on the ass, it usually took about 2 minutes for her to catch me and stop slapping me ,by that time my craving was gone
